Lean In: Graduation-Style
Lean In: Graduation-Style
So, you did society a solid and got a college degree…………YIPPEE! You have it all together, right? Know EXACTLY what to do with the rest of your life? If so, you are in the minority.
Luckily you have many many MANY people to help you out with advice! For instance, a lot of famous people wrote books targeting graduates this year (I Just Graduated: Now What? by Katherine Schwarzenegger, If This Isn’t Nice, What Is? Advice for the Young by Kurt Vonnegut) and some ordinary people wrote about extraordinary lives (The Promise of a Pencil: How an Ordinary Person can Create Extraordinary Change by Adam Braun, The Opposite of Loneliness by Marina Keegan). In fact, even some comedic pieces were published (Holy Shit! Am I Really About to Graduate? How to Get a Job Like a Boss by Sir Isaac Navias).
MY favorite book for graduates comes from someone with advice that makes so much sense to me: Lean In for Graduates by Sheryl Sandberg. I loved Ms. Sandberg’s book, Lean In, and her video on Ted Talks. She has great advice for women, which is applicable to men as well of course. Her new books contains the original content from Leaning In, an additional chapter addressing recent graduates, as well as six additional chapters written by leaders in technology and industry. The new content addresses resumes, the interview process, and many other topics. The book is widely available in most bookstores and online. I recommend you check it out!
